This line here:

Code:
An error has occurred. See the log file /home/user/.eclipse/org.eclipse.platform_3.7.0_155965261/configuration/1387034588893.log
is telling you to read 1387034588893.log located at the location in the message. Have you done that?

Did you install either Java or opendjdk's jdk?

You can read it with a text editor (like gedit) or you can do it via terminal by using less /path/to/file. Using less will keep it friendly to read if it is long

Just a note on eclipse. if you install android OS; to do updates with the android sdk manager it needs to be root.
you can create an application to do so. Menu > Preferences > Main Menu (Edit Menus) > System Tools >
New Item > Type: Application in Terminal (so you can enter your password) > Name: Android SDK Manager Updater > Command: sudo /opt/android-sdk-linux/tools/android update sdk > Close
Now you have a new entry in the Menu under System tools. That is of course if it installed in the /opt folder or it could be in /usr/local/eclipse or /usr/bin/
I installed eclipse by following these instructions:
http://www.wikihow.com/Install-Andro...th-Eclipse-Ide
and downloaded:
http://carroll.aset.psu.edu/pub/ecli...-x86_64.tar.gz
