Error "Failed to fetch... 404 not found" for some packages in Linux Mint 14.

i have same problem with linux mint 14
had over 300 packages that were upgradable and most worked except those going to security.ubuntu.com/pool/...etc...
failed to fetch...404 not found [IP: 91.189.92.200 80]

also on that note. mint14 does not advise when updates are available, i have to open synaptic first. have i inadvertently turned off that feature?

I experienced that problem with Mint 12 a few times (but I didn't bother which packages they were and where they were supposed to come from). When I tried the update process again a day or so later, it usually worked fine.

Probably not. Same here with Mint 13 on two PCs: It doesn't notify me automatically, I have to check for updates manually by clicking on the update manager icon in the panel from time to time. Seems to be a general issue, now that you mention that, too.

well...this has been ongoing for a few weeks
will try at different times of the day
just seems odd that it is the security files that are messing up and the ip Not Found?
apache, gnupg files

solved? seems to be
after reboot still had same problem
checking all the tabs in synaptic package manager i noticed the 'edit/reload package information' button...
now it is working again (and went back to my original mirror site)
only 243 upgradable packages left
if only there was a select all button...
