Hi,

It would be helpful if you stated the Distro (Guessing Fedora???), the method you have used to download/obtain mysql and the steps to recreate the issue you are having.

What version of MySQL are you installing and on what OS? Is it a new complete install of MySQL or an upgrade?

MySQL 5.0.90 on Fedorra 11 . It is a complete install. I already have another MySQL. Now, I am installing in a new place. The error occurred when I gave "./mysql_install_db " . ./configure, make and make install are over. Please help.

One question comes to mind: is there any specific reason why you're compiling from source instead of installing using the package manager?

It looks like maybe mysql_install_db is trying to install in the location of your old db's, and the row size of one of the tables changed between mysql versions. See if you can specify an install location.
