Error At Installation
 
i am vinay kumar from india ,i want install the fedora core 5 but,
i am getting an error at the starting of installation itself,
when i press enter for graphic mode or any other mode, it will show a error that is
"UNKNOWN INTERRUPT OR FAULT AT EIP 00000060 c0100231 00000230"
after showing this error the system will restart,
same thing is reapeted after restart of system.
please slove my problem
because i m having lab exam

I'm not entirely sure, but it sounds like the CD got corrupted in just the wrong place. Try downloading that iso again and check the md5 sum.

i have tried all other cds also , its a system problem,but i can install win XP

i have tried fedaro core 2 ,3 ,4 versions of cd,s also its giving the same problem, erlier i had installed the red hat 9 ,but now redhat also giving the same problem for installation ,so i could'nt work with the linux,
my system is compaq model name SR1215IL
with 512MB ram
80 GB hard disk samsung
2.8 Ghz prossesor intel 845 Gv chipset
motherboard is MIS name: MS-6577 M-ATX Rev. 3.1 (Giovani), Rev. 4.0 (Giovani2)
Compaq name: Giovani-GL6, Giovani2-GL6,
sony's DVD RW player

I think I found the solution to your problem. Your hardware is having trouble with the ACPI power management. When the graphical install is about to begin, there will be a place where you normally just hit enter, but could also type in some options. There, enter "LINUX ACPI=OFF" without the quotes.

Hope that's right, give it a shot. I found someone else with a compaq who had the same trouble, they fixed it with this.

Hope that's right, give it a shot. I found someone else with a compaq who had the same trouble, they fixed it with this.
