Error 500 when accessing web gui of Smoothwall Express 3.1
Hi,
I'm new to Linux, and have just installed Smoothwall Express 3.1 in our office. It was working fine until I decided to install Advanced Proxy, URL Filter, and Calamaris. Now I see a lot of errors on the console, and I'm getting Error 500 when trying to access the web gui.
I need to have web proxy enabled just so I can set web page access restrictions. Any help / ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Maybe if you tell us what the error messages are, that you get on the console, we could help you.
As for error 500 in your browser. This means the webserver ran in an unexpected problem. And is probably due to to the errors you got on the console.

It seems that one of the extra's you installed messed up the translation file used by the webserver. Which explains the problems you have with the webserver.
My advice would be to de-install the extra's. Check if Smoothwall runs as expected and then install the extra's one at a time and check if everything is still running, before you install the next.
Also, you know that SW 3.1 is still in release candidate phase, so there may be some trouble.
I tried uninstalling all three (advanced proxy, urlfilter, and calamaris) but to no avail. I ended up installing SWE3.0 instead and instalted advanced proxy, urlfilter, and calamaris. It's working fine now.
However, I have a couple of guys not being able to access their company network via vpn. I can't seem to find any article or tips on how to make this work. Those guys are using Avaya VPN client. Any ideas guys?
I've read somewhere that the Avaya VPN client uses IPSec. If so, how can SWE3.0 be configured to allow IPSec to access external resources/networks?
