errno implementation

Hello All,

I was curious on the implementation of errno in errno.h

Is errno stored in the task context for each process?

Thanks,

Vineeth

According to the IEEE Std 1003.1 (aka POSIX) standard to which most implementations comply,
Quote:
For each thread of a process, the value of errno shall not be affected by function calls or assignments to errno by other threads.
Does this answer your question?

Thanks for the prompt response.

I was curious to know where exactly errno will be stored from a process' perpective.

ie is it stored in the task context of the process just like global variables which will be modified when any (non-successful) system calls are made?

Thanks,

Vineeth
