To my experience, usually it doesn't work. But, to make that printer run in your Linux, I think you can obtain a Linux driver for your Epson 1000 ICS here. Find out if the website is true to its word.

got it, Don't know if printer is working, I pulled it out, put the HP back, my computer was happy with it lol
