Epiphany Browser

I am very new to Linux. I'm using Linux Mint 8. However, internet browser speed is very slow as compared to using the same computer with Windows. In Linux, I've used Firefox 3.5 and Epiphany 2.28. Epiphany runs somewhat faster than Firefox so I mainly use it for the internet.

What I would like to know is if Epiphany browser 2.30 is noticably faster than 2.28? Should I go thru the trouble of upgrading to Mint 9 inorder to be able to use Epiphany 2.3 - as well as Chromium 8?

What i would be interested in knowing, is whether you have disabled IP6 in firefox? Because you might be seeing a slowdown in firefox because it defaults to using IP6 dns requests which slows it down...

Hi szboardstretcher

I read about editing Firefox's config file. The website I went to said to edit the line "network.dns.disableIPv6" and set it to true. I don't have this line in my version of Firefox. I'm using dailup. Does that line only appear for a DSL connection?

In case anyone is interested, Epiphany 2.30.2 is noticeably faster and more stable than 2.28. I find, on dail-up, it is faster than firefox (Linux Mint 10).
