entries in /var/log/secure
I'm not sure this is a security question or not:
i was perusing my log: /var/log/secure and found many (100's) of entries of the format: Jul 19 10:00:35 cl xinetd[20847]: FAIL: sgi_fam libwrap from=<no address> Jul 19 10:00:35 cl xinetd[3199]: START: sgi_fam pid=20848 from=<no address> Jul 19 10:00:35 cl xinetd[20848]: FAIL: sgi_fam libwrap from=<no address> Jul 19 10:00:35 cl xinetd[3199]: START: sgi_fam pid=20849 from=<no address> I'm running FC1 with uname -r giving: 2.4.22-1.2197.nptl Is this an sgi_fam bug or is someone/thing trying to access sgi_fam and failing? Or worse, is there an attack of some sort under-way on this machine. I have iptables in place...dropping all packets in/forwarded and allowing only specific ssh connections via tcp-wrappers. Any thoughts??? |
This is a known bug on Fedora Core 1
