hi all,

what is linux kernel, is it the bash ? or is it another layer underneath ?
Can I go in to kernel like I go in to bash (shell) ?

thanks in advance

Explanations of the kernel can be found here (the Kernel homepage). Also read RUTE (check my signature for the link).

XavierP 07-08-2004 02:28 PM

F1_help 07-08-2004 02:40 PM

I am not that fortunate. let's leave the that behind for a while.
Can you answer my original question ?

1.
I have installed fedora core2, I can go to the shell (bash) but, what is that mithical kernel thing ? how do I get there ?

2.
I am wondering that I have a 500MB hard with a 486 I would like to install (if possible) something like dos shell ( here I think it is linux kernel , boh!!!!)

Tinkster 07-08-2004 02:42 PM

As fas as I know rute online uses html.gz ...
maybe Windows browsers can't handle that
mime-type?

Cheers,
Tink

F1_help 07-08-2004 02:46 PM

well, I have tried that in fedora too

XavierP 07-08-2004 02:56 PM

I'm in Mozilla on Mandy 10 - no problems at all. Also have viewed it in Knoppix and in WinXP (with Mozilla).

What exactly do you want to do with the kernel?

F1_help 07-08-2004 03:01 PM

I dont know why but it does not work with my browser.
anyway
I thought I could install a kernel
only the kernel for my 486 with 500MB hard

XavierP 07-08-2004 03:15 PM

If you are on Fedora, Up2Date/Yum/Apt4RPM will do all that for you

F1_help 07-08-2004 05:02 PM

can just email me the Linux: RUTE Users Tutorial and Exposition
documents ?

thanks in advance
