Question ENQUIRY on Current Red Hat OS Equivalent to Desktop Red Hat 5.2 (Linux 2.0.36)

I plan to use the OSPF Simulator that comes together with the OSPF Complete Implementation book by John T. Moy (http
://www.informit.com/store/product.aspx?isbn=0201309661).

For the purpose of me to be able to establish an almost similar environment as Red Hat 5.2and the packages listed below, please would someone advise me as to what Desktop Red Hat OS and packages that be used in the absence of the Desktop Red Hat 5.2.

The packages that have been recommended in the OSPF Complete Implementation Book (http://www.informit.com/store/produc...201309661)are:
(1)gcc : version 2.7.2.3
(2)egcs-c++: that is g++version 1.0.3a
(3)glibc: version 2.0.7
(4)glibc-devel: version 2.0.7
(5)libstdc++-devel: version 2.8.0
(6)make: version 3.76.1
(7)Tcl: version 8.0.3
(8)emacs
(9)rcs
(10)gdb
(11)ElectricFence
(12)Tk: version 8.0.3

Your advise will be highly appreciated

There are newer versions of all of the tools listed available. No current platform would still be using tools that old. You can use the current RHEL6 or CentOS 6 if you're looking for something RedHat-based.
