enabling password authentication for courier
Hi,
I seem to be having trouble convincing courier to check my passwords. Postfix and courier quite happily send and deliver mail, but the password authentication stumps me. I've read many web sites, but they only seem to mention authentication in passing and never give a step by step guide. I get the impression that I should be able to athenticate against my /etc/passwd file, so if anyone can tell me how I would be very grateful. |
Afternoon! It depends on how you set it up. You can change how it authenticates in your /etc/courier-imap/imapd.conf file (IIRC, sadly, I'm not on my linuxbox to check for ya). Once you decide how it will authenticate (I'd suggest having it at least go through PAM...) you can change the entry in the above file to fit your needs. If this doesn't lead you in the right direction, please post back, I'll be more than happy to break out my old box and give you specifics.
