Enabling GSynaptics touchpad driver on Fedora 10

Hi all. Running Fedora 10 on an IBM T41. Trying to run GSynaptics touchpad driver but am getting the

Code:

GSynaptics couldn't initialize.
You have to set 'SHMConfig' 'true' in xorg.conf or XF86Config to use GSynaptics

error message. I created a file called xorg.conf in my root directory and it looks like this:

I can pick my way through the directories with the command line but am out of my depth here. Where do I need to add the missing information? Thanks!

your xorg.conf file should be in: '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' not your root directory. edit the one that's in there don't overwrite it or you could make X unuseable.

Check. I cleaned the file off the root, installed and ran system.display.config which created an xorg.conf file in the correct directory; however, still no dice on getting gsynaptics to intialize. Still looking... Thanks though.

This is from my setup. I've disabled tap-clicking (I have real buttons and this caused all sorts of unintentional clicking) two finger scrolling (just confusing) and horizontal scrolling (goes forward and back in firefox: not fun) but kept vertical scrolling. If I use my finger along the right side of the pad it scrolls like a mousewheel.

Thanks johnson_steve! This worked for me too, running Fedora 10 on an HP tx2500z. Note: I deleted the "mouse0" entry in xorg.conf before inserting the "Touchpad"
