empty home folder

When I'm in gnome, ls in my home folder returns nothing, but when it's booted into maintance mode(text mode), I could see all my files!!! Plus, I can't login with the username that I can't see the files.

Anyone knows how to resolve this magic?

CHeers!!

Is your /home a partition of its own?
If so is it automounting at boot?

Can you clarify more on not being able to log in with the username?

Are you logging into both Gnome and CLI using the same username?

I cant login with username X, and created another user Y,
logged in with Y, and either can I see anything in X's homefolder nor can I login with username X.

In maintance mode, I could list all the files in X's homefolder.

Thanks!!!
