Email deleted instead of download

I'm using SUSE 9.0 Prof. and have now tried KMail, Netscape and Thunderbird.
But when I want to download my mail, I always get the message no new mail on server (I knew that there was mail). The only mail I get is the mail I send to myself with those programs. Or replies from websites ordering something etc. So I think is has something to do with the format but I cannot figure what the hell is going wrong. Any help appriciated. (Excuse my bad English)

Are you certain mail is deleted from the server? That does not sound normal, and perhaps you need to verify this with your isp. You can select the option to leave e-mail on the server in the e-mail clients you mentioned above, so nothing should get deleted. Are you using some kind of junkmail filter?
I'm no expert, but I doubt the format of the e-mail has anything to do with this.
Just a thought.

I talked already with my ISP, they told me that perhaps just connecting to the server marks the mail als read and delet's it. I tried also the option to leave the mail on the server but as soon as I conntact my mail server using linux the mail is gone, except mail from a webpage or test mail I send myself from linux. I'm confused.
