Angry elx install cramfs magic unable to mount root

I am trying to install elx business desktop 1.0. After I press enter to install I get the first 20 or so lines and then a cramfs wrong magic message followed by a kernel panic unable to mount root fs on 03:01. I have installed libranet and red hat 9 on this system with no problem and it is identifying the cdrom. I didnt download this cd myself, I bought it from discount linux cds. Can any one help. I would love to help my windows addicted friends make the switch, but can't do so until I can make it myself.
