Eli The Computer Guy Youtubes...still relevant?

Hey all,

Say, in my research, I came across this series of videos on Linux: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...B6473ACF32C59D.
They're about 4-5 years old. Can someone tell me if they are still relevant? (I use Ubuntu Mate 15.04.)

4 to 5 years can be ancient in linux years. Some things still apply though. Can't really say if who you say is relevant or not. I judge on a case by case basis.

Like there is one that part of it covered a Slitaz install over a network to many workstations I found many moons ago. I wish I would have bookmarked that one.
It was a 3 part series with lots of good info on all sorts of stuff. It was a old youtube video also. But was worth referring to. I still regret that I cannot find it.

There are some good courses on edX. Check this one from Linux Foundation - Introduction to Linux. edX has some great courses available in a variety of subjects. You can take most of them for free or go through options to be "verified" and get certificates and all, but I always do the free versions...

Yeah, but it's fun listening to Eli talk about "Kay-Lee" linux. I might need to sound bite that.

If you're just learning, Nixie Pixel has some decent tutorials mixed in with her reviews.

I don't think your time would be completely wasted riding along with Eli. I've found that knowing how things used to be done can make it easier to understand why they're done a particular way NOW. And the rudiments don't change all that much.

unless you're 4-5 years old - then it's ancient.

but to answer your question,
it depends on what the video is about. i just looked into the first one "Linux Basics", and it seems pretty relevant.
some content is still as valid as it was 10 years ago, other content grows old after less than a year... use common sense.
