EFI RAID card

hello

i have a RAID card (intel - SASUC8I) which needs to have its firware upgraded - but it needs to be upgraded through 'EFI'.
here is the card details: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...roller+SASUC8I

however, i do not understand how to 'run' the EFI environment.

since i am an absolute beginner on this; i would really appreciate suggestions on how to do this.

any suggestions?

Many thanks,

Nicolas

What part of the readme has you perplexed?

1. Unzip all of the files from the zip package onto USB key, maintaining the directory structure. Please make sure that the USB key is fully compatible with the EFI version on your motherboard. Some incompatible versions may prevent USB key working normally.

2. Boot to the EFI shell
- Press 'F2' during POSt to enter BIOS Setup
- Select Boot Manager -> EFI Shell

Exactly why does it NEED to be updated by the way? Never update stuff unless an exact errata statement fits your exact issue. Never update just to update.

i think i do not have a 'F2' option in my BIOS

my motherboard is GA-890GPA-UD3H Rev.2.1

is there another way to boot into an EFI shell like using a 'live CD'?

thanks,
