editing XF86Config for MSI FX5600 VTDR-128

Hello,

Complete newby here, thus I'm New, Man.

I'm installing Red Hat Linux 9 on a new PC with an MSI FX5600 VTDR-128 video card which is supposed to be Linux compatible. Linux boots but it's only visible in text mode. I understand from other threads that I have to edit the XF86Config file to make it recognize the video card. I can do that but I don't know what the correct values should be.

Within the XF86Config file it currently reads:

Driver "vesa"
VendorName "Videocard vendor"
BoardName "VESAdriver (generic)"

What values should be written in to make Linux recognize the video card?

Thanks in advance.

Newman

Change it to
Driver "nv"
This driver is not listed to work with FX5600, but you may try it. It doesn't have acceleration.
For accelerated driver please visit www.nvidia.com

Thank you Mara. The "nv" generic worked fine for the FX 5600 graphics.
