Linux has several video editing programs, ranging from simpler programs like Openshot or Avidemux to more sophisticated programs like Cinelerra or Blender's video editor.
In short: Video editing works well on Linux, no need for Windows.

I understand a lot of mainstream movie production these days uses Linux, which suggests there's no shortage of good software. The question is, what features do you want?

Personally I like Kdenlive. I've only used it for fairly basic stuff, like combining short videos into a DVD with a menu and intro, but it has a good range of features and is easy to use.

Hi. Resonantly I use Avidemux others look cool too.

I have not tried Jahshaka for years back then it was over my head but still worth a look: http://www.jahshaka.com/

Kdenlive is very good.

There's also Lightworks, which isn't free (and which I haven't tried).
