editing $PATH

okay, so, earlier i had a problem with finding a command, and once i found it (in /sbin , if you were wondering), i tried adding it to my $PATH (while i had root powers). but, this is apparantly only a temporary fix, and the next time i reboot, the $PATH is back to its normal, incomplete self. is there someplace that i can make it so that it loads /sbin into the path everytime the computer boots?

thanks for the help

Edit your /home/$user/.bash_profile or .bashrc and or the /etc/profile to include the new directory in your $PATH

That is, add the following line to one of those files:

Code:
export PATH=$PATH:/sbin
