Edit Grub.


Hi,

I need to add

rootdelay=130

to my grub menu every time I boot up.

Can someone please give me pedestrian instructions as how to edting

(which) appropriate file to make a permanent change?

Assuming that you use Ubuntu, you have to edit the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT line in /etc/default/grub. You have to edit the file as root, maybe with
Code:
gksudo gedit
After editing the file you have to run
Code:
sudo update-grub
to apply the changes.

Guessing 10.04 with grub2, have a read of this. It's very detailed, but look at the "Configuring Grub2" section. I'd reckon you need to update GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX.
I'll have a try later when I can find a Ubuntu system.
