Eclipse startup problem

Hi,

when I want to start eclipse, I get the following error:

JVM terminated. Exit code=13
/usr/bin/java
-cp /opt/eclipse/startup.jar org.eclipse.core.launcher.Main
-os linux
-ws gtk
-arch x86
-showsplash /opt/eclipse/eclipse -showsplash 600
-exitdata /opt/eclipse/eclipse -exitdata 1088001
-vm /usr/bin/java
-vmargs
-cp /opt/eclipse/startup.jar org.eclipse.core.launcher.Main

Anyone an idea what I can do about it?
Thanks,

Jan

P.S.: I'm using red hat 9 and eclipse-SDK-3.0.1-linux-gtk.zip

jdk1.5.0_01 is installed and works fine. I can compile and run programs from command line.

Are you saying that since he's using Eclipse he isn't even worthy to ask about a problem here?

Anyway, to troubleshoot this problem I would make sure the gtk library is up to date and also that eclipse and all the plugins it comes configured with can use the new 1.5 Java environment. I've heard that many haven't advanced past 1.4.x. You might try downgrading and see if this helps.

eclipse on Ubuntu startup error

Hi,

I experience the same problem as Jan_W: running Ubuntu, gtk, gcc, JDK 1.4, JRE 1.4 etc installed, and it gives me this error when running the eclipse bin platform install:

msg= missing startup.jar (BUT: it is really there in the same /opt/eclipse directory...) and then inmediately after that message, this:

JVM terminated. Exit code=13
/usr/bin/java
-cp /opt/eclipse/startup.jar org.eclipse.core.launcher.Main
-os linux
-ws gtk
-arch x86
-showsplash /opt/eclipse/eclipse -showsplash 600
-exitdata /opt/eclipse/eclipse -exitdata 2f8001b
-vm /usr/bin/java
-vmargs
-cp /opt/eclipse/startup.jar org.eclipse.core.launcher.Main

Looked around, but I have no clue what to do with it. Is there somebody that has an idea or found a solution I could try?

Thankx, dank, gracias!

Hi,

I solved the problem by deleting the java, javac and jar file in the /usr/bin directory and creating 3 links ,called java, javac and jar, to /usr/java/jdk"version number"/bin/javac,java,jar in /usr/bin.
Hope this helps.

This worked on a Red Hat FC3 install as well.
