Post echo in other platforms


i m using RHEL5, i wanna know is there any difference in echo command in other platforms like Suse, fedora, debian etc.?

printf is more portable. also printf contains a lot more "features".

please compare the man page of echo and printf and you can see the difference. also if you want to know more, you can get the book: Beginning portable shell scripting.
