echo $JAVA_HOME


Hi All,

I am new to linux presently am using fedoracore16and i installed java on it set JAVA_HOME and PATH In etc/profile and later in .bash_profile

when i give command "which java" its showing the path like /usr/bin/java but when i give the command echo $JAVA_HOME it's not listing any thing what is the problem could any one give the solution and when i give the command java -version it's listing all information

Does your /etc/profile look something like this?


export JAVA_HOME="/usr/local/java"
PATH=$PATH:$JAVA_HOME/bin
export PATH USER LOGNAME MAIL HOSTNAME HISTSIZE HISTCONTROL

Also, the contents of /etc/profile will only take effect once you've logged out and logged back in again, thus reading the new details. Have you done that?
