Easy Peasy- Installed Microsoft publisher incorrectly now cant get rid of it.
 

I'm new to Linux and to posting in a forum, so here goes. I've installed Easy Peasy on a Toshiba laptop, and every thing is working fine. I did not see anything like Microsoft Publisher in the Open Office suit, so I tried to install it. It installs from a CD along with other elements of Microsoft Office. All I wanted was Publisher, so I tried to install just that part and not the rest. It didn't work. Now I have the Publisher icon on my desktop, and when I click it, it seems to install, but never finishes. There is no uninstall icon like the other windows compatable software that I installed. When I try to reinstall the entire suite, Easy Peasy tells me that it is already installed. Anybody have any ideas on how to remove the incomplete install, or to reinstall over it?

I see from that there is an installer for Linux or MS.
If you've installed the Linux one, then you should know that you cannot run MS native code direct in Linux.
(The exes are different internal formats, amongst other problems)
You either need the Linux equiv, or use an environment that fakes MS eg Wine http://www.winehq.org/

I first installed Wine. The other Microsoft files, Capture Wiz, DVD Shrink and Decryptor and Ultra VNC all worked fine. BUT silly me, I just downloaded a file manager for Easy Peasy and found the files on my c drive and deleted them. Program gone and icons gone. Problem solved. Thanks for taking the time to post.

May I ask why you run Linux if your intention is to mainly run Windows programs?

I have Easy Peasy installed on two laptops. The other six laptops are running XP and Win 7. I also have six desktops each set up to do its own thing. I need a few windows programs on the Easy Peasy machines to maintain compatibility with the others. Why do I have so many computers?,, I don't know, its a hobby I guess. People give me their old machines when they break down or get to slow for them, and I repair them and add them to my collection. Need to have a yard sale one of these days. Anyway, I don't like win 7, and win 8 is the hardest and most awkward system in the world to operate. Vista is some where between the two. I have to learn how to navigate these since I help everybody in the community, at church and work with their computer problems. If I can find a non-windows program that will do the same thing, then I will use it instead. I will be installing different OS's on all the laptops to try them out and learn a little of each. There are a lot of new operating systems out there.It's a learning thing. Thanks Alan

Let's see what we can find as alternatives:
MS Publisher -> Scribus
I am not quite sure about Capture Wiz, it seems to be either a screenshot tool or a desktop video recorder. In the first case just use the screenshot tool that comes with your desktop environment, in the latter case try recordmydesktop or one of its GUI wrappers.
DVD Shrink -> k9copy
