i have been messing with Linux for a while... stopped it because of other priorities and want now to pick it up again ....

i was wanting to download a new version of JAMD as that was the only "small" distro that really worked well for me... but i can't find the website any more and assume the project is dead?? (i searched google/linux)

so is there any easy, small, well balanced, free other distro on the market for beginners??? preferably on 1 disk?? i have a slow internet connection....

it has to have a nice gui like gnome or kde and has to be able to be configured for 90% by gui....
