In general (with obvious exceptions like "one's broken and the other isn't", or stuff like that) ... the answer is "Sure! Yes".

Q: Why do you ask? Are you having problems?

If so, "/var/log/messages" is a good place to look for detailed error messages. Please feel free to post a new thread whenever you have a different question, or any time you encounter a new/different problem.

'Hope that helps .. PSM

I am asking because about a month ago I installed slack 12 on a computer with with no problems at all. Today I tried to install the same disks on another computer and the slack install does not see either of my cd drives.

I am thinking of taking the drive out of the first computer, putting it in this systmem to see if that would allow slack to install.

Many of the older DVDroms will not read DVDrws and some will not read DVDrs.
