dvd player question

i want to know if a dvd player can play a cd with a
.avi movie with .sub on it also...
i have a model from philips LX3600D.
i dont know if that matters i just wanted to give some more
info so you guys can help me...

you bought the thing... does it have a divx logo on it? does the manual say it can play divx? what does this have to do with Linux?

it doesnt have to do with linux but it will have to do later as i will need
some conversion programs for it...
anyway i bought it yes
and yes it plays xvid and divx
waiting for details

what details are you expecting? it plays divx... that's the answer isn't it?
