Unhappy dvd playback is washed out after installing Totem

Newbie here. I have installed (to date) about 8 various distros of Linux with varying degrees of success. I have finally settled for Fedora Core 1. It's nice looking and fairly easy to navigate and add bits and pieces to.

Recently I installed and got xine running. DVDs play well and the sound is generally in sync. I have recently installed Totem (I have xine and ogle as well) and after that dvd playback has been reduced to a grey/greenish tinge. It almost looks as if it's verging on black and white (but grey and green). Anyone had similar experience.

Good Xfiles story: SCO is secretly being funded by M$.
