DVD Burner burning to slow
why is it my dvd burner which is 4xspeed is only going at an average of 1.9xspeed?
It's really annoying cause in windows it works fine :( |
You don't get quite as verbose of an output of your burning speed in windows, otherwise you'd see that it's not really burning consistently at 4x there either ;) Time the process and see if it's truly slower, if so, look at changing things on your drive such as dma and so on with tools like hdparm.
Cool |
What are you using to burn?
|
kd3
i know for a fact it takes 12minutes to make a cd on windows, but on linux it takes up to 30 minutes :( |
ok i downloaded hdparm and i have no idea what i do now :(

Is it faster when you burn it from a command line (using a fixed speed)?
K3b seems to have some problems with Linux 2.6.8... |
how would i do that?
|

Google is your friend. :)

Hi minm
I wonder if you can help me... I have downloaded K3b program and ran the rpm installation file on my system.... Now when I run the program it runs a setup to set the hardware I thing, but every time it does that the system freezers... Here is the version of Linux Redhat that I am running... Linux MIS1751 2.4.20-6 #1 Thu Feb 27 10:06:59 EST 2003 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux Can you help me .....? Thank you Dave..... |
hmm, i dunno if this wold work but have you tried running the program as root and doing that to see if that would work..
I know when trying to burn audio cds, 2.6 kernals have a bug that just crash the system, but i have no idea why it would crash for just starting the program and configuring hardware.... you can always try other programs such as XCDRoast or Gnome Toaster, Post if you still have problems |
does anyone recommend a good stack of dvd+/-r's that run well in linux?
Now i tried a different brand, it's still going slow but this time 'slower' so anyone who doesn't have problems, what disc brand do you use? |
