I don't know what's wrong, but I'm not sure what "WinXP Pro" is doing on your specs list when you are trying to install Linux

Could it be that your installation cd is damaged? It happens to me with Fedora last time, doesn't boot at all

A couple of possibilities.

The SATA thing, is pretty new, and has been (from what I've read) known to cause problems.

Have you actually done the partitioning? I could be something as simple, as that while mandrake (as I understand it) it perfectly capable of working with SATA system's, you may have to sort your partitions first, something to do with a single drive, mandrake can find some space or give you a default suggestion of resizing the XP partition.

Whereas the SATA system may be confusing it a little.

Worth a try ???
regards

John
