Dual download
Have marked last question (plug in), as solved, as think I have found the answer, which gives me a bigger problem.
As a rule when I turn on my laptop, carry on with whatever I'm doing and come back when booted. Today, I noticed that I have Xubuntu loaded twice, on Boot page, show two entries on SDA5, no don't know why, only thing I'v done in last week is to up grade, via package manager, after doing all up datse, from 11.10 to 12.10 Is this the reason for my original problem, and how do I get rid of one of the entries. If you read my last question, you will know I admit to being a bit of an idiot, but will appreciate any help. |
The upgrade has most likely installed a new kernel, and has modified the bootloader to give you the option of loading the new one, or the original. Check closely; there is probably some indication of the difference.

Have checked again the two items shown as SDA5, and, surprise, surprise, both show that they are 12.04. Understood that was downloading 12.10, which is what it said on the update manager. Is there a simple way to remove from disk, or do I need to reinstall 11.10, and try again? Again thanks for help so far |
You probably just want to remove the entry from the bootloader configuration.
