Dual Booting Info with Win98se and Lycoris

Hey ^_^

Just after some info on Dual Booting, can't seem to find any, i have a 200mmx running Windows 98SE, 20gig HDD, 128Mb RAM. Is it a bad idea to Dual Boot on my slow system?, will it slow it down?, sorry, i'm not to knowledgeable in this area .

Thx all, any guides would be appreciated *-*

Welcome to LQ.

No, dualbooting won't slow down your machine at all. It is not as if you will be running Linux from within Windows - it will be running completely on its own, so there will not be the overhead of having Windows run. If your Linux is setup nicely, you might even notice that it seems faster! I would, however, advise that on such a machine, perhaps Lycoris is not a good idea - the default setup is quite clumsy and will not make good use of your resources. If you're after a newbie friendly distro, then I would suggest you try Mandrake. I've heard that SuSE is quite good too.

Good luck.
