Dual boot with Windows 2003 Server

Hi,

I recently acquired a laptop with Win 2003 Server installed. I'd like to install Linux (thinking of Ubuntu) and have it as a dual-boot laptop with Win2003 and Ubuntu.

My issue is I am unable to create a partition on the Win 2003 Server. If I install Ubuntu, will it create the partition for me?

I have a 100Gb hard disk, 3Gb mem, so I know the laptop has enough resources, just not clear how I go about creating the Linux partition.
I dont have the Win 2003 CDs anymore, so cant reinstall this if I have to.

Any help/advice would be extremely well received.

Thanks,
Rich

the latest Ubuntu distro, in the disk setup part of the installation process detects that you have a NTFS partition, and it helps you via a Wizard, to reduce your Windows partition to the percentage that you want, and it creates the linux partition automatically, so you don't have nothing to worry about.

this is an example:
