Anyway ... as for your toubles, I would suggest doing a Mandrake reinstall on the slave. When it asks you where to install Lilo or Grub, tell it the first sector of MBR (I think that's how they label it). Pretty sure it's the default anyway.

As I said, if you ever want to remove the drive, then reinstalling the Windows boot loader is easy.
