That is expected behavior when installing windows. It will overwrite the master boot record without asking or informing a user that it will be done. You need to reinstall the Grub bootloader to the master boot record of your primary drive to boot both. Fedora 15 has been unsupported for over two years so you might want to get an updated version or you can reinstall grub to the mbr

balabala.
make yourself a rescatux disk/usb and use grub-repair.
after that, please install a current linux distro.

the ALSO unsupported XP will replace the grub from the dead and unsupported fedora 15

Did you read the install documentation at all ?
it Explicitly states to install windows FIRST
THEN and ONLY THEN
install the linux Operating System

Fedora 15 has not been supported in a long time
fedora 20 is current and fedora 21 should be released any day now

also Microsoft is/HAS been killing off XP
there is NO support for it ( unless you are the USA Government )

do not use XP

Hi all
Thanx for the reply.
I have few important files in the linux partition. I need to access/retrieve them.
If anybody could suggest me a method it will be helpful for me.

Thanks in advance

I have installed ns2.35 in fedora 15. I have set the path in .bash_profile script file.
The problem is I'm able to run my ns with the following command "~./ns"
How do i run by giving ns in the command prompt jus like any other normal unix commands

Thanks

i already suggested a method in my last post: grub rescue via rescatux.
alternatively you can use any other live media to access your linux partition and copy the important files to a safe location like a usb stick.

(your last post seems totally unrelated to your present problem. also fedora 15 is still unsupported, as others pointed out already. no use installing anything.)
