dual boot pclinuxos2007 with backtrack3 on laptop?MBR-MENU.LST

I have backtrack 3 and pclinuxos 2007 on my toshiba satellite laptop, and I made a lilo rescue disk to boot the 2 os's. Does anyone know what i need to do to get both systems to show up in lilo, an be able to boot either system without the rescue disk. my laptop boots into backtrack without the disk.I also done the same thing with my desktop except I have pclinuxos 2007 and freespire on it. my desktop boots into freespire without rescue disk. any help with configuring the mbr, menu.lst or lilo.conf would be appreciated!

I am a little confused by your use of lilo in the same breath of menu.lst.

Did you know that menu.lst is a grub config file?

If you have grub I may be able to help. If you have lilo probably not.

1) can you post your fstab of your laptop and desktop computers irrespective of whats in each mbr.

2) Then name what bootloader boots each please.

Then post the relevant bootloader config files for each pls.

3) Leaping ahead...its fairly trivial to create a grub cd that can boot something on a hard drive.

But maybe you are focussing on an issue that escapes me for the moment?

IMHO it is always good to have a live cd to rescue something on your hard drive. But I am not sure I have heard of a lilo rescue disk>

Sorry for the bother

I have Lilo as my bootloader in each, Lilo seems to be better as far as configuring, stability and agility.Sorry for the bother but I found A PCLinuxOS installation guide.pdf I downloaded with all the info on all kinds of different ways to install, and dual boot> http://www.mypclinuxos.com/downloads...tion_Guide.pdf I found how to make the LILO rescue disk in the help manual that came with Linux, too bad PCLinuxOS didn't come with the installation PDF on the live cd! It could have saved me from doing repartitions and reinstalls.I also found a PMagic live cd,and a super Grub cd free to download,on my quest for dual boot.Oh well I would rather learn the hard way than to not learn at all.Google is the best thing since fire was discovered.I'm sure I will have questions about other things. Thanx for the concern aus9 and again sorry for the bother!
