Dual boot on dual user machine??
I currently have a "family" machine running WinXP. If I install Ubuntu off a disk I have it is my understanding that Linux will become the primary OS. If so, how does one move from the Linux OS to Windows. I am trying to find out as much as possible beforehand hoping to avoid nasty suprises.

When you install Ubuntu it will install a bootloader on your hard drive. The bootloader will give you a choice of booting either Ubuntu or Windows. If you do not reply within a few seconds the bootloader will boot into whichever OS you have told it should be the default OS.

Thanks, that should do it.

you have to create (at least) to partitions, one for windows and one for linux. if you just add a disk, makes things a little easier and you don't really have to touch the windows installation at all
you install a linux distro, and then you have to install a boot loader (must linux distris do this for you), and the boot loader can load windows or linux at boot time. |
