Dual boot not working & network problem - Ubuntu and opensuse
Hi All
I tinkered with Linux 3 yrs or so ago and gave up. I have now tried again....not very succesfully
My desktop stopped working wirelessly so it is now linked up to my router (talktalk Huawei EchoLife Home Gateway IGD) and i intend(ed) to use it as storage for a home network
.
I presently use a Presario laptop F500 to connect wirelessly to the internet and have installed Ubuntu (latest version) which works on dual boot with Vista. However I can't get an internet connection using Ubuntu. Internet works perfectly well via Vista. I have tried configuring access with Ubuntu using the router settings but no joy.
The second problem is with the desktop, Acer Aspire l320. on this I have installed openSuse 11. I created a separate partition for this and on boot it tells me the is Vista and OpenSuse options - However if i try to open in Vista it boots to Opensuse and if i try to open in OpenSuse it opens in OpenSuse.
As it is hardwired to the router internet is fine and Opensuse lets me access my Vista-held data but I obviously can't get to Windows programs.
Re home network set up - my laptop and pc could in Windows see each other but not talk, and in Linux there are not seeing each other at all.
Big fubar methinks!
Any ideas please?
