In any case, if your bootloader "dumps" an OS you do not have to reinstall, it is easy to fix this issues. But in general it is not wrong behaviour to have backups of config files.

Actually, openSuSE as of 11.3 still uses legacy grub which is not compatible with Mandriva. You can choose which one you're most comfortable with and add stanzas to the /boot/grub/menu.lst (openSuSE) or /boot/grub/grub.conf (Mandriva).

Fair enough, I suppose. I don't see the problem with dual booting, though. If your problem is solved, then please mark it as such (under "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread).

Mandriva is Grub Legacy to my knowledge. Suse is like eating goat.

I really did try suSe. Gnome only has one panel at the bottom and when I tried to make one at the top it froze the OS. There are not many categories for the menus so they are VAST!Its like if you were an art student and you had all of your work spread out trying to decide which ones are the best.I'm disgusted by my self but I even gave KDE a fair shake and I couldn't accept it. One thing on the other side of the coin is the O.S won't let you terminate a big resource without it taking it's coarse which has to inhibit some bad behavior in that respect. We are going to miss Mandriva in a bad way. This was an emotional release.I hope you don't mind.
