hey got a new hp pavilion environment pc with vista os..now i wanna instal linux can i dual boot vista with fedora???or will i face some problems???i have even shrinked my primary partion and created an unallocated space of 12gb..so do i need to do some more or can i just start off installation????

You should also add a swap partition aside from the root partition that you have allocated.
The rule of thumb is 2 times larger than your physical RAM.

Aside from that, I guess your good to go. This link might be useful to you http://proyektos.awardspace.com/slack.php for comparison purposes although the setup in it is dual-booting slackware 11 and win xp.
