Dual Boot Installation

Hi guys,

I'm now ready to start the installation of linux, i've backed up everything i need to keep and as far i can tell I need to do the following.

1. Install XP, I can setup the partions during the setup of xp can't i?
2. Install Suse 10.0.

My main question is that I'm not sure what to set the partion sizes as, I have a 40gb hard drive, I want 3 partions one for each of the OS's, and one to keep all the data (FAT32 if i'm correct so xp and linux can see the data) What would you recommend?

If you've got any useful tips as regards installation please let me know, I'm determined that this time no matter how difficult that I will get linux up and running.

Install Win first and you should be fine, for the size of partitions it's up for the use you plan for each os's and what you're going to share in the FAT32 partition between them.

You'll also need a swap partition. I don't think Windows lets you choose how big of a partition to install on; it takes up all available space. Of course, I could be wrong!

Windows allow you to reset partitions and choose which one to use.
