Dual boot Dual hdds, Download of ubuntu 10.1, no vista or dual boot

Had a perfectly working dual boot two harddrive vista, ubuntu 9.1 system. The DOWNLOAD of ubuntu 10.10 installed itself to both hdds and over vista and no dual boot. I didn't install 10.10, it did.
after reinstalling windows vista first and ubuntu 10.10 second how do I edit grub correctly to dual boot? Thanks for your consideration.

It should have given you the choice of mounting during loading the Ubuntu, there is a screen that asks how to install. The correct way is side by side for dual booting .

I couldn't have directed the install simultaneously over windows on hdd0 and next to 9.1 on hdd1. It seems more like microsoft than ubuntu?

With both hds connected do 'fdisk -l' and post back

update-grub (sudo) should do it for you automagically.
