Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Guys, Right now i am having Windows 98SE and Ubuntu 5.04. I wanna install Mandrake 10.1 also. Hard disk space/partition is no problem for me. My problem is that, when i install mandrake 10.1, my ubuntu grub disappers, and i am unable to recover it.
What should i do to keep ubuntu in mandrake's grub ? I only see mandrake and Windows option in grub,
Win98SE is on hda1
Ubuntu is on hdb1
I need to install mdk on hda3.
When you install Mandrake, don't install Lilo or Grub to the MBR. Make sure you install it to the first sector of the boot partition. Then, you can add Mandrake's Grub entry to Ubuntu's Grub. Or, vice versa: if Mandrake overwrites the MBR, you can add Ubuntu's entry to Mandrake's Grub.
You are contradicting yourself, one moment you say you want to install Mandrake - "I wanna install Mandrake 10.1", but the next moment you talk as you have already installed it - "I only see mandrake and Windows option in grub". Have you already installed it or not then?!
Anyway, you should not encounter any problems as any modern distro (mandrake included) will detect the other operatings systems, you don't need to do anything extra.
But how would i know the mandrake grub, unless i boot in mandrake and where will be the mandrakes grub located ? in hda3.. in which directory ?
I mean how will i even come to know whats actually in mdk grub ?
after watching mandrakes grub, i will write the same format in ubuntus grub, with title Mandrake 10.1
