i believe i've recommended SLAX and Knoppix a couple times already...

it doesn't matter what distro you choose, without knowing the basics, you are bound to fail...

this is why you're having so much trouble, because you don't know the basics...

the problem is not your hardware, and it certainly isn't your distro...

All I have to do is connect. Thats all. Not locating the KPPP in Mandrake is unusual when other people are telling to use that to connect.

I beleive this question is a legible newbie question.

I have used Google, and I looked everywhere for the KPPP dialer. I popped in the CD#3 and I went down the list and could not find there either. Maybe its under a different name or file.

I did what exactly you guys told me.

Yes its great!

I will add you to my Buddy List!!!! when I get a chance.

I was literally in tears!!! Thanks alot

As far as security. Do I need to install a firewall (Like Shorewall) or the built-in firewall in Mandrake (MCC) will be sufficient enough.???

My Internet slows down a bit since I have the externel modem maybe about (15% slowness) than before. (Under Windows).

for now you should probably stick with the built-in firewall...

when you become more familiar with linux, switch to shorewall, and when you get the hang of it for real, make your own iptables script...

as for the modem issue with the speed, i believe it's related to the serial connection, but i'm not sure...
