There are Linux drivers for the LSI21320-R listed here. http://members.driverguide.com/match...LSI21320-R&t=1
According to this document ftp://ftp.sgi.com/public/Technical%2...320-R_qhsg.pdf, there is a driver that supports Red Hat Linux 7.2 and 7.3

thanks for the quick reply, I have tried this driver (mptlinux-2.05.23.zip). I used Rawrite to copy the file onto a fdd and although it appears to the load the driver I keep getting "an error has occured - no valid devices found on which to create new file systems". Im assuming this means I havent loaded the correct driver? but I'm new to Linux, so if you can think of anything I could be doing wrong any help greatfully received

Many Thanks

Andy

First, RH 7.1 is ancient. Second, this driver is part of Linux kernel since version 2.4.X. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? You are not trying to resurrect some ancient box and, for gods sake, put it online?!?

As the OP is new to Linux, perhaps some background would be useful.
The drivers in the link I posted earlier were for the 2.4 and 2.6 kernel versions. Redhat 7.1 has kernel version 3.10.0.
Apparently the source code for the mptlinux driver is now included in the linux kernel, so a separate driver does not need to be installed.
This thread, in which Emerson participated, has some details. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-x-4175457271/
