Driver for Music Keyboards in Ubuntu Linux?
 

Hello,

Can anyone tell me if there is a file in the Ubuntu Repository that will drive a Music Keyboard connected to a desktop computer through a joystick connector?

If so, what is the name of the best file in the Ubuntu repository?

Then, if there is a driver file for the keyboard, are there any additional files that would be good to download to play piano music on that keyboard?

a name of the keyboard = google then the serial plug-in does not care it is just a com line.
please state the question my keyboard make and model. Is there support in the linux kernel for it.

You asked what brand music keyboard I want to use with Ubuntu Linux. The a.nswer is that I want to use a Sound Blaster music keyboard on Ubuntu Linux. I bought it at Comdex, and it came with Windows installation software. I plug the Sound Blaster Music keyboard into the Joystick port on my PCI sound blaster card in my desktop computer, installed the Windows software, and then I could play piano music on the keyboard. Now I would like to use it with Ubuntu Linux, but I need to know what software from the Ubuntu repository I might have to install in order to get the music keyboard to play music.

I have another smaller keyboard that connects to my desktop computer the same way, and I wonder if it would also work with the same software from the Ubuntu repository.

I have seen similar music keyboards to my Sound Blaster one connected to Apple computers, so I know Apple has software to run such music keyboards, but my question now is whether I can find the necessary drivers for such a keyboard in the Ubuntu repository, and if so, what is the name of that software.

The next part of my question was whether or not there is other software for people who want to use a music keyboard with Ubuntu that would be interesting, and if so, what is the name of that software?

Yes, Midi may describe my music keyboard better than I did.

Since yesterday I checked with Google on the internet and found the program "Ubuntu Studio". I wonder if it has everything needed to run my "Midi" music keyboard on my Ubuntu Linux desktop computer? The article I read made it sound like it was another complete operating system, so I wonder if that is what I need or not?

not untill you can help me with simple name of the midi keyboard plus model number can I really help.
But here is the fact plug it in and open a terminal type alsamixer push the F4 button go to the input section select line. go too capture left right and turn it up. push F3 turn up the volume . push F5 and turn up the line.
let me know.
Alsa is the system that plays it. if you want to record and doo stuff there is many programs that will yous the alsa setting to use your hardware.

OK. I am home now, and I connected my Creative "Blasterkey MP3" midi keyboard, Model No. BK49 to the midi or joystick port on the Soundblaster PCI sound card, that is in the computer with Ubuntu Linux version 10.4 as its operating system, but no sound came out when I hit the keys on it. Is there any software in the Ubuntu repository that I can install which has the necessary drivers to make it play music?
