Draytek ADSL modem/ router problem

Just after login an error message pops up with the following

"Could not look up internet adress for Vigor211. This will prevent GNOME from operating correctly. It may be possible to correct the problem by adding Vigor211 to the file /etc/host"

Vigor211 is my Router - why is it looking up an internet adress for it. Interestingly i can get access to the LAN using samba, this works fine but as yet i have not been able to configure my ADSL line (the wizard is not very helpful). Are these two things connected?

Most importantly using an editor either (vim or emacs) which line do i change in the host file and what do i put in it?

Would this problem explain why my computer is so achingly slow - i have a 1ghz computer with 256mb of RAM and a good supported gfx card and yet i can't run even TUX racer because i get like 1 FPS.

Which graphics card do you have, and have you tried installing hardware accelerated drivers for it?

I have a Geforce 2 Titanium and it says it supported. (i dont think the slow down is because of my gfx card). Could the slowness be caused by having GNOME KDE and X-Window installed (are they all running at the same time maybe?).
