I'm trying to a application from a cd,And it won't work? How do I do it

What application is it? Is it a Windows program or something for linux that you downloaded from somewhere?

Typically, linux applications are downloaded from something called a repository. You generally use a package manager to browse and select the software you want, and then it is installed.

Here are a couple of links:

It's a CD

It's a CD called Lable Factory

Google shows that program, Label Factory as a windows application. The website does not indicate it will work natively under Linux. If you wish to run it under Linux you could look into Wine, a compatibility layer, that allows one to run many windows applications in Linux. Bear in mind that not all windows applications can be made to work using Wine.

For more info about wine: http://www.winehq.org/ Search the database for Label Factory; perhaps someone has it working already (edit, I did not find it). If not you could try loading it. The documentation on the Wine site is great

Wine is avaliable through Ubuntu's package management system. Just search synaptic

Depending on the type and dimensions of the labels, it is very likely you could use OpenOffice or LibreOffice to create them by choosing the correct paper size and type without having to make Windows software to work on Linux.

Templates that you don't have may be downloaded from the OpenOffice site.

Edit: The Open Office Templates URL was not working when I tested it, but it should be valid. I got it off their site.
